Love: Be Smart

As a man, I've been taught never to show an emotion because emotions can get you killed; I've lived by that, I respect it, and I hold it near and dear to my heart. At times, we have to step out of our comfort-zones to breach the horizons into a larger portrait of clarity so that we may understand the course of our lives. This I tell you as your friend, brother, cousin, enemy, or whatever I may be to you... follow the path that's right for you.
If you're in a relationship now, be smart. Being in love doesn't make you a bitch, denying it does. When it comes to such a complex conundrum such as love, we've been taught completely wrong. From my understandings and encounters with love, it's a story with not a happy ending in sight; you don't have to live that way, be smart.
We've been taught that a man who loves a woman is a fool, in actuality the man who seeks not to find love is the fool... I am the fool. If you're a religious person, the Bible, Qu'ran, and numerous of other religious books strongly speak down upon fools. Do not limit yourself to being the fool, be smart.
From years of emotional scars, heart breaks, and broken pro/mises, my heart has, in some ways, callused over. I'm a hard exterior protecting a fetal heart which has no means of healing itself yet another time. I do not seek a companion, because there is not one for me at this time. The saying "there is someone for everyone" is a cruel, senseless ploy to keep the hopes up for single people, so that they can expect some type of salvation from a life of loneliness, it's pure bullshit... Be Smart. In order to make your dreams come true with the love of your life, you have to make it happen.
She says that she loves you, right? It's up to you to trust and believe her, but don't be stupid. Invest your time in her, but please save something for yourself. It might seem wrong, but when you put your everything into something, you're left with nothing when it's gone, trust me. The more the love, the bigger the gap is for deceit and dishonor. People tend to play on another's naïvety, do not let this be the death of you. Learn to trust, but keep a watchful eye, this will ensure your own heart if worse comes to worst.
There are a lot of misunderstandings when it comes to any emotion that involves two people, especially love. With such a strong feeling, you should look to please your companion before you please yourself. If you both think like that, the both of you will be number one in someones eyes.
As men, women, and children, we've grown accustomed to accepting acts of generosity without necessarily giving any back. In order for your relationship to float on the clear seas of love, trust, and romance, it should be the other way around. By giving yourself to your companion, and your companion doing just the same, you are once again number one in someones eyes. This may seem like it's contradicting my previous point, but be aware that a person may not give what they receive, and it's up to you to differentiate if that's the case... Be smart.
I myself do not involve myself in love, because in my case it's a falsified feeling used to express an infatuation with a painful outcome. Do not let the misadventures and hardships of another affect your own relationship. Love is there and it can be found in all places, keep your eyes open and read the signs. Just because the next man is having a hard time with his love life, do not apply that to yours. As an individual, it is up to you to decide where everything is headed in your life. NEVER let a person tell you love doesn't exist, because it is yet another cruel, senseless ploy to comfort a specific group of people, this time it's the heartbroken. Don't let the select few ruin it for you, because misery loves company... Be Smart.
We've been programed to live by a certain guideline or standard, it is up to you to break those and go your own way. I am getting older, and as a man I'm looking to show emotion. I've blamed it on people for not showing me how, but I have to teach myself before the next person can tutor me. I myself have to be smart.
Don't be the fool, be smart.

Whoa, good read Jay.
Hmm, I wonder where this is leading to, though?
That's old, dick face.
